The size of the chambers may  vary.   Contech Research currently has 10 chambers ranging from .9 cu ft to 64 cu ft. The most common chamber material is Plexiglas, although glass has been used, and I suspect that other materials have been used  since most chambers are privately run.

Whatever materials are used, they must exhibit a low absorption rate with respect to the gases used and the humidity levels run, as some materials will deteriorate over time in a wet atmosphere.
